Felicity has broad experience in many areas of acute nursing including General Medical, General Surgical, Cardiothoracic Surgery, neurosurgery, bariatrics, Emergency and Intensive Care. Her area of nursing specialty is Intensive Care where she has over 20 years of experience in general ICU and cardiothoracic ICU nursing.
Whilst working in the clinical area, Felicity developed her ongoing love of teaching and clinical education. Roles included time as the Critical Care Nurse Educator for a health service area where she contributed to development and redesign of Transition to ICU and HDU Nursing programs and assessment tasks.
This experience has helped her in developing skills and clinical and adult education and valuable insight into breaking down complex and multistep concepts into formats that can be understood by those with more limited clinical exposure.
Felicity is developing her research experience alongside more senior academics, with a particular interest in Intensive Care. Interest areas include process, patient outcomes and staff and student preparation for ICU nursing.
She has taught undergraduate students across all aspects of the nursing curriculum for over a decade and one of her favourite things is seeing that moment when a student grasps new concepts. Felicity really enjoys engaging with students and developing creative, innovative, evidence-based and engaging course content.
